Responsibilities:
- Charged with overseeing the economical upkeep of LNG ships and their machinery to guarantee safe, error-free operation and adherence to relevant class and industry standards as well as flag state administration regulations.
- Keep an eye on the planned maintenance system for the engines and the vessel's deck.
- Keep an eye on and plan vessel statutory and classification surveys.
- Organise the delivery of consumables, inventories, supplies, and spares.
- Organise the changes, repairs, and correction of defects.
- Keep an eye on compliance with charterer requirements and corporate standards.
- Support the technical department's cost monitoring and control efforts.
- Keep technical documentation, drawings, and catalogues from manufacturers and yards in good condition.
- Participate in technical meetings of classification societies and shipyards.
- Check new construction and delivery documents and certificates.
- If necessary, take the lead in the accident/incident investigation pertaining to technical issues such equipment failure or malfunction.
- Complete the onboard annual technical inspection and audit of the vessel on time.
- Help the Group Technical Manager oversee the technical department's operations.
- Promptly completing any extra project-specific technical requirements
- Implement technical changes for the project, obtaining approval and obtaining certifications as needed.
- Respond to any technical issues that arise throughout the project and, if necessary, communicate with the creators.
- Throughout the project, schedule and oversee technical repairs, including any necessary docking of the vessel.
- Make sure that any flaws that could impact the charter are fixed right away.
- Take part in interviews and offer suggestions for promotions and new recruits.
- Track vessel performance and make sure appropriate action is taken.
- Controlling operating costs and vessel budgets
- Arrange, oversee, and control major scheduled and unscheduled repairs as well as dry dockings.
- Visit vessels on a regular basis to ensure they are in good shape and running in accordance with company standards; also, produce Vessel shape Reports.
- Form an alliance with the various departments that are in charge of the same vessels (HSQE, crewing, operations, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Has experience as a marine engineer; one year of experience operating an LNG carrier with a propulsion output of 10,000 Kw or more; experience operating a big LPG or exceeding an AFramax Oil Tanker; ideally, six months of experience as a Chief Engineer.
- Owner of a valid Engine COC
- Proficiency in ISM, EMS, PMS, repairs, and dry-docking
- Thorough technical understanding of different marine machinery
- A motivation for ongoing personal and interpersonal development.
- The ability to think analytically, solve problems, manage time, manage projects, and make decisions.
- Capacity to effectively and constructively address management of the company
- Exhibits interpersonal, cooperative, and communication abilities
- Familiarity with the power and propulsion systems on board designated vessels. Experience with XDF vessels and steam turbine plants is strongly desired.
- Familiarity with the systems and equipment for handling and containing cargo aboard designated vessels.
