Job Description:
- Take the lead and make sure everyone is safe, both in the workplace and on board.
- Make sure that ships always abide by the laws and regulations of the port state, classification society, international, and flag state.
- Make sure team members receive coaching, mentoring, and training in accordance with organisation requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee ship upkeep to guarantee seaworthiness.
- For ship repairs and maintenance, coordinate with manufacturers, contractors, and service engineers.
- Perform a risk analysis, taking into account the types and causes of significant malfunctions and losses.
- Track operating expenses and turn in quarterly reports on the budget's progress.
Qualifications:
- Eight years minimum of relevant experience under independent vessel management with respectable ship owners or managers.
- Have either a Class 1 or 2 CoC and sailing experience as a Chief Engineer or Second Engineer.
- It will be advantageous to have solid understanding and expertise with container ships.
- Has a history of achieving operational excellence.
- Strong ability to make decisions and handle stakeholders.
