Fundamental Operations
In charge of acquiring all supplies, equipment, machinery, raw materials, and other products and services needed for the production system at the best possible price without sacrificing quality or timeliness.
Particular Duties
System Assistance
- Examine every requisition, paying special attention to engineering changes that are implemented to reduce surplus and obsolete inventory.
- Updating and maintaining databases with information on prices and available suppliers
- In order to obtain a sizable favorable purchase price variance, negotiate prices and contract terms for advantageous bargains.
- Accept invoices for payment as directed by the Materials Manager.
- Sustain the purchase documentation system in accordance with GPP and ISO criteria.
Support for Operations
- Assess suppliers and keep a careful eye on their performance regarding product compliance with our requirements and quality standards, services rendered, and cost.
- Examine suppliers' facilities and products, if needed, to make sure our specifications are fulfilled.
- Stay updated on supply chain problems that impact the line (such as shortages of commodities).
- Collaborate closely with suppliers and production to fix supply chain-related line problems.
- Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance and Engineering, as well as with impacted suppliers, to address any issues related to components, such as quality or drawing problems.
- Communicate often with the plant and suppliers.
- Address any ad hoc demands from the customer while their item is still in work in progress.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Two years of applicable experience towards a degree in electrical, mechanical, or marine engineering, or four years of relevant experience toward a diploma in the same fields
- A professional buying management certificate is preferred.
- Understanding the MRP, QAD, and SAP systems is beneficial.
