Responsibilities:

1. Provide daily support on assigned vessels for Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality (HSSEQ) issues:

  • Arrange for internal and external onboard audits, as well as Right Ship Inspections.
  • Audit and inspection findings, as well as routine visits, are used to monitor and support vessel performance. Manage the intake of new tonnage allotted to the fleet team (Change Management).
  • Monitoring and assisting with the daily usage of shipboard risk assessment tools, toolbox meetings, work permissions, and so on.
  • Follow-up on events, accidents, near-misses, and NCRs.
  • Conduct root cause analyses.
  • Assist in the ongoing growth of management systems and quality (improvement of procedures, training, and so on).

2. Provide everyday cargo-related support:

  • Assist our onboard management with loading/discharging operations and detect noncompliance with operational standards (for Cape size boats).
  • Ensure the efficient execution of cargo operations without sacrificing safety, documentation, and cargo quality control methods.
  • Assist the in-house Port Captains and Commercial Operators with cargo issues, cargo claims, and other maritime operational issues.
  • The ideal applicant can teach, coach, and advise members of the fleet team and shipboard management in the areas of HSSEQ, allowing the team/vessels to operate safely. By exhibiting this in his/her behavior, he/she is an advocate for'safety' and an ambassador of our organizational principles. He or she knows the significance of asking the proper questions in order to help our safety management system and increase our quality output to our clients

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of three years' experience as a shore-based Marine Superintendent is required.
  • As a Master, you must have extensive dry bulk shipboard experience.
  • Master position requires sailing and/or shore experience commanding geared bulk vessels.
  • Knowledge of international maritime regulations, marine industry standards (ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISO 9001, and so on), and HSSEQ processes is required.
  • Proven auditing and root-cause investigation experience
  • English is second language.
