Our client a multinational company specializing in digital transformation and IT services, catering to a wide range of industries and sectors, is looking for a: UNIX Build SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the Data Centre & Hosting domain.

You will play a pivotal role in large-scale customer infrastructure transition and transformation projects. Collaborate on Data Centre Transitions and support incremental business delivery. 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement UNIX servers on physical and virtual platforms.
  • Ensure seamless system handover to ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide guidance.
  • Lead migration activities, aiding team members as needed.
  • Plan and execute software/hardware changes in collaboration with customers.
  • Assess requirements, formulate specs, and install software.
  • Drive new system implementations with clients for desired outcomes.
  • Follow standard methodologies for infrastructure planning.
  • Produce high-quality design, documentation, and plans.
  • Monitor infrastructure, identify improvements, and mitigate risks.

Skills:

  • UNIX project experience, deployment, and migration.
  • Proficiency in Solaris 10, 11, RHEL 6-8, and LDAP.
  • Familiarity with HP ILOs, Solaris XSCF consoles, RHEL Satellite.
  • Knowledge of Secure Boot, SCOM, McAfee on Linux.
  • Virtualized infrastructure deployment (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Strong grasp of networks, storage, and ITIL.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and scripting skills.
  • Enterprise-scale transition experience, including Data Centre.
  • RHEL Certification and Solaris virtualization knowledge (desirable).
  • Experience in detailed design documentation and customer interactions.

Deliverables:

  • Implement servers and services as per project plan.
  • Provide inputs for project and testing plans.
  • Address technical risks and contribute to change progression.
  • Collaborate in project meetings and workshops.
  • Review and create LLD documentation.
  • Lead testing and peer review processes.
  • Partner with suppliers to meet client requirements.
  • Support Service Acceptance of solutions.
