Job Description:
IT Team Lead - Windows and Linux - Up to £87,000 + stock options + benefits
Locations: Oxfordshire/Oxford/Reading/Swindon/Cheltenham/Brackley/Newbury/Didcot/Bicester
Our client is a pioneering Science/Technology company leading the way in innovation. Currently transitioning from start-up to scale-up, they have exciting projects lined up for 2024 and beyond.
As part of their expansion initiative, we are seeking an IT Team Lead with expertise in Windows and Linux infrastructures, covering endpoint management, workstations, and servers. Additionally, strong skills in either storage systems or networking are essential.
This role requires proficiency in both Windows and Linux-based systems, demanding a robust understanding of both operating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee IT technology operations, including hardware implementation, upgrades, user support, project planning, and delivery.
- Develop and implement IT policies and systems aligned with business requirements.
- Strategically plan IT expenditure to meet budget requirements.

The interview process includes scenario-based assessments, covering both technical and competency-focused evaluations tailored to the specific setup of the company.
- High Compute machines primarily operate on Linux, while daily drivers and machines use Windows.
- Given the unique nature of their work, an Offline Network is a key component, and interview discussions will explore challenges in this area, seeking experiences in securing and locking down systems/hardware.
- Approximately 65% of their network operates offline, underscoring the significance of offline capabilities, while the remaining 35% is online.
- Familiarity with Group Policy Object (GPO) management will be explored as part of the interview process.
