About the Role
Our client is momentarily seeking a seasoned and experienced Architectural Technician/Technologist with aspirations to build their portfolio and experience within the conservation sector. In this role you will be reporting to partners within the Technical Staff department, providing a pivotal role in translating design concepts into tangible, functional, and sustainable structures. You will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the seamless integration of innovative design principles with practical construction solutions. You will be responsible for detailed design, specification, and project management, either leading or supporting, depending on the project's size, complexity, and scale. You will work within multidisciplinary design teams from the initial conception through detailed design, tender, and on-site delivery, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project completion in line with the practices standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and specify building projects according to current guidelines, standards, and regulations.
- Manage projects through planning, building regulations, and other required consents.
- Independently lead multidisciplinary design teams on small, technically focused projects, ensuring timely, budget-conscious delivery that meets the companies and client quality expectations.
- Serve as the technical lead within multidisciplinary teams on small to medium-sized projects, supporting senior colleagues.
- Support the management and technical delivery of complex, high-risk projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards.
- Oversee external consultants as part of the design team, ensuring performance standards are met and quality is maintained.
- Engage proactively with clients to provide high-quality service within commercial constraints.
- Lead discussions on technical and related issues.
- Assist in forward fee forecasting, invoicing, and monitoring project profitability.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Professionally qualified with a relevant degree (or equivalent) and post-qualification experience.
- Developing a track record in technical design and delivery within sectors relevant to our client.
- Experience working for a range of clients and service users.
- Capable of supporting the organisation, guidance, and leadership of multidisciplinary design teams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledgeable in the application, principles, theory, and practice of technical design and delivery.
- Understanding of other building and engineering-related disciplines or requirements for effective design, coordination, and delivery of projects.
- Ability to apply technical judgement to ensure project compliance with design standards.
- Understanding of the design and construction business.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office.
