About this Job:
We are seeking an intellectually curious self-starter to join our team as a Tax Manager. This role offers a hybrid work environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies for diverse clients
- Conduct tax research for planning and compliance, preparing concise and conclusive memoranda
- Identify and implement tax planning opportunities, such as reorganizations, estate plans, and post-mortem planning
- Support senior staff in all aspects of corporate tax initiatives
- Maintain a high level of familiarity and understanding of tax codes, regulations, and other technical information
- Utilize staff to deliver client projects on time and within budget
- Engage with various tax authorities to explain client positions and determine reasons for assessed amounts
- Keep senior managers/partners updated on the progress of assigned tasks, focusing on advancing files/engagements and managing within time budgets
- Prepare complex tax returns, forms, and various tax elections
- Write external publications, blog posts, and other memoranda
- Present on specific tax topics both internally and externally
- Provide guidance and support for the development of junior tax team members
- Participate in firm promotion events to raise awareness of the firm and its services in the marketplace
Qualifications:
- University degree
- Completion or near completion of an In-Depth Tax program OR a Master's of Taxation program, or CPA
- At least four years of practical experience in public practice
- Exceptional technical skills
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to focus on overall concepts
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a commitment to providing excellent client service
- Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Positive contributor to a team environment while capable of working independently when required
Computer Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Caseware/Caseview
- Strong knowledge of tax applications, including Taxprep, CCH Intelliconnect, Taxnet Pro, and Tax Find
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
