About the job Klaviyo Specialist
Klaviyo Specialist
Entry-to-Mid Level · Execution-Focused
YAMU Media is a Demand Generation Agency helping companies between $1M–$20M in ARR scale online. We're hiring a Klaviyo Specialist to join the retention team, working directly under a senior email strategist.
About the Role
This is a pure execution role. You are not responsible for retention strategy — you take a flow map, brief, or spec from your strategist and build it in Klaviyo correctly, including the edge cases. What matters most is depth of hands-on Klaviyo fluency, not years of experience: someone with a year of deep, exploratory Klaviyo work is a stronger fit than someone with three years of shallow, surface-level use.
Key Responsibilities
Flow & Campaign Build
Build and maintain email flows in Klaviyo from strategist-provided briefs or flow maps: welcome series, abandonment flows, post-purchase, win-back, and subscription-status flows (new, at-risk, paused, canceled, reactivated)
Execute dynamic content, conditional/drag-and-drop logic, and personalization accurately and efficiently
QA every build across devices and clients before it goes live
Segmentation, Reporting & Data Hygiene
Build and maintain segments per strategist specs (behavioral, RFM, subscription health, tenure)
Pull and maintain reporting on flow and campaign performance
Maintain list hygiene, suppression logic, and data integrity within Klaviyo
Flag data or integration issues (e.g., subscription platform Klaviyo sync issues) to the strategist and technical team
Technical Maintenance
Troubleshoot rendering issues, broken dynamic blocks, and flow logic errors
Keep the Klaviyo instance clean: retire unused flows/segments, document build logic for handoff
Work with a dedicated email designer's templates — drag, drop, and personalize from an established modular template library rather than building templates from scratch
Requirements
Hands-on Klaviyo experience with real depth — we care far more about how much you've explored inside the platform than the number of years on your resume. A candidate with 1 year of deep, hands-on Klaviyo work is a strong fit.
Proven ability to execute flows independently from a brief or flow map, including dynamic/conditional content and drag-and-drop logic
Strong QA instincts — you catch broken logic and rendering issues before launch, not after
Active use of AI tools in your daily workflow for QA, documentation, or build efficiency — we're an AI-native team and prefer Claude, ideally Claude Cowork with MCPs connected to Klaviyo, Figma, and similar tools
Looking for a full-time role. We're prioritizing candidates who want this as their primary job, not a side gig alongside part-time work elsewhere.
Excellent written and spoken English
Nice to Have
Experience with subscription platforms (Recharge, Skio, Loop, native Shopify Subscriptions) and how their data passes into Klaviyo — helpful, but not a disqualifier if you don't have it
Basic awareness of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC — you don't need working knowledge of setting these up, but understanding what they are is a plus
Basic HTML/CSS for template troubleshooting
Agency experience supporting client accounts
What Success Looks Like at 3 Months
Strategist reports significantly reduced time spent in Klaviyo build/execution
Flows are built accurately, on time, with minimal rework
Build documentation exists so work is handoff-ready and auditable
Your Attributes
You take extreme ownership and see tasks through to completion without excuses
You have a customer-driven mindset and understand how email fits into the full retention journey
You communicate proactively and never let a problem sit until someone else notices it
You're highly adaptable and thrive in a fast-moving, priority-shifting environment
You solicit and welcome feedback and use it to improve your work
You're an AI-native operator who uses AI tools in your daily workflow
You're a proactive self-starter with a solution-oriented attitude and an insatiable drive to succeed
We Offer You
Fully remote work
A team of smart, open-minded people with individual qualities
A rapidly growing company with real opportunities to grow into leadership roles — this role has a clear path into broader retention/strategy work as you develop
Supportive, flexible work arrangements for work-life balance
A start-up culture: fast-paced, agile, honest, and open, where team members at every level can make a difference
Commitment to internal promotion and clear pathways for advancement as your skills and experience grow
Compensation
Negotiable depending on experience, with a 3-month trial period. Salaries at YAMU are uncapped and reviewed periodically based on performance and market conditions.
