Job Summary:

The Fabric Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fabric-related activities, including development, mill management, sourcing, technical advising, and quality assurance. This role requires close collaboration with the design team to source and provide fabrics that align with the company's creative vision and quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of fabric properties, sourcing strategies, and market trends to drive efficiency and innovation within the fabric division.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabric Development and Sourcing:

  • Collaborate with the design team to identify fabric requirements for seasonal collections.
  • Develop and source new fabrics, ensuring alignment with design specifications and market trends.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with fabric mills, suppliers, and vendors globally.

Mill and Vendor Management:

  • Evaluate and select fabric mills and suppliers based on quality, cost, and lead time.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with mills and suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any production or quality issues promptly.


Technical Advising and Quality Control:

  • Provide technical guidance on fabric properties, finishes, and applications.
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure all fabrics meet company standards for durability, performance, and aesthetics.
  • Address technical challenges and propose solutions to meet production and design needs.

Inventory and Cost Management:

  • Oversee fabric inventory to ensure optimal stock levels for production needs.
  • Track fabric costs and manage budgets effectively to meet company goals.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies without compromising on quality.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and merchandising, to ensure seamless fabric integration into product lines.
  • Stay updated on emerging fabric trends, technologies, and sustainability practices to provide innovative solutions.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fabric sourcing, development, or mill
  • management within the garment manufacturing industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of fabric types, properties, and production processes.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to meet suppliers and mills.
