Estimation Engineer

Role Summary

The Estimation Engineer prepares accurate BOQs, quantity take-offs, supplier enquiries and project cost estimates for ELV and ICT systems. The role reviews drawings and tender requirements and converts them into complete, competitive and commercially accurate estimates.

Key Responsibilities

· Review tender documents, specifications, drawings and scope-of-work requirements.

· Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural, electrical and ELV drawings.

· Prepare complete and accurate BOQs for ELV and ICT projects.

· Identify missing quantities, unclear requirements and discrepancies between drawings, specifications and BOQs.

· Prepare and issue RFQs to manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and subcontractors.

· Obtain and follow up on quotations, product availability and delivery lead times.

· Prepare technical and commercial supplier-quotation comparisons.

· Verify quantities, unit prices, discounts, installation costs, logistics and other cost components.

· Prepare detailed project cost sheets covering materials, labour, subcontracting and related expenses.

· Coordinate with internal departments to confirm project requirements, approved brands and pricing information.

· Support the preparation of commercial quotations and pricing schedules.

· Revise BOQs and cost estimates following design changes, tender addendums or clarifications.

· Maintain updated supplier-price lists, estimation databases and historical cost records.

· Maintain proper version control for BOQs, cost sheets and supplier quotations.

· Support post-award budget preparation and project handover.

Systems Coverage

· CCTV and video surveillance systems.

· Access control and biometric systems.

· Structured cabling systems.

· ICT and network infrastructure.

· Switches, routers, firewalls and wireless systems.

· Home-automation and smart-home systems.

· Equipment racks and cabinets.

· UPS and power-protection systems.

· ELV cabling, containment, accessories, power supplies and installation materials.

Candidate Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or another relevant technical discipline.

· 3–5 years of experience in ELV and ICT estimation, quantity take-off or tender costing.

· Strong knowledge of ELV and ICT products, cabling, accessories and installation requirements.

· Demonstrated experience preparing detailed multi-system BOQs.

· Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and ELV drawings.

· Good understanding of tender specifications, BOQs and scope requirements.

· Knowledge of UAE manufacturers, distributors, suppliers and subcontractors.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookup functions, comparison sheets and cost summaries.

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD and PDF quantity take-off tools.

· Strong numerical ability, accuracy and attention to detail.

· Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Ability to manage several estimates and submission deadlines simultaneously.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

· Previous experience with an ELV or ICT system integrator in the UAE is preferred.

· Effective control of BOQ, quotation and cost-sheet revisions.

· Minimal variance between estimated costs and actual procurement costs.
