Role Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in smart metering systems, power systems, and utility infrastructure. You will play a critical role in the deployment, integration, and support of AMI systems including smart meters, communication protocols, and substation equipment across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning, implementation, and maintenance of AMI and smart grid projects.
- Test, commission, and troubleshoot smart meters and related communication technologies such as DLMS, Modbus, MBUS, RF Mesh, NB-IoT, PLC, and LTE.
- Configure and integrate smart meter data with Head-End Systems (HES) and Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS).
- Work with smart metering platforms including Landis+Gyr, Itron, Elster, Iskraa, and Kamstrup.
- Ensure proper installation and commissioning of 11KV/22KV/33KV distribution points (DP) and associated equipment such as AB Switches, Lightning Arrestors, DO Fuses, VCBs, Transformers with OLTC, and MV generators.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure deployment of AMI systems.
- Coordinate with utility clients such as ADDC for substation-level AMI integration.
- Generate technical documentation, site reports, and commissioning records.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Power specialization preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience in AMI or related smart grid projects in the UAE.
- Certifications: Valid TAQA, DEWA, SEWA, or FEWA certification(s).
- Driving License: Valid UAE driving license is mandatory.
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in smart meter protocols and communication systems.
- Familiarity with major AMI platforms and vendors.
- Solid understanding of power distribution systems and equipment testing.
- Preferred: Experience with ADDC substations and knowledge of AMI cybersecurity best practices.
