Pre-Sales Engineer

Role Summary

The Presales Engineer designs compliant and cost effective ELV and ICT solutions, translates client and tender requirements into complete technical proposals, and supports sales engagements from opportunity qualification through submission and project handover.

Key Responsibilities

· Review client requirements, tender documents, specifications, architectural drawings, electrical drawings and site survey information.

· Design complete ELV and ICT solutions covering CCTV, access control, structured cabling, networking, Wi-Fi, racks and UPS systems.

· Prepare technical tender documents, system architectures, compliance statements, technical submittals, material schedules and detailed BOQs.

· Coordinate technical tender preparation, submission, clarification and evaluation activities.

· Prepare accurate solution costing and support commercial pricing with the Sales and Procurement teams.

· Evaluate and recommend suitable OEMs and vendors based on technical compliance, cost effectiveness, availability and client requirements.

· Coordinate with manufacturers, distributors and suppliers to obtain quotations, datasheets, certifications and compliance documents.

· Deliver technical presentations, demonstrations and proof of concept sessions to clients and consultants.

· Respond to technical queries, tender clarifications and value engineering requests.

· Ensure designs comply with UAE regulatory requirements and applicable international standards.

· Support pre contract reviews, technical negotiations and project handovers to the execution team.

Candidate Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or another relevant technical discipline.

· Minimum 5–6 years of relevant presales and solution design experience in ELV and ICT systems.

· Strong experience working with system integrators in the UAE market is preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to prepare, submit and evaluate technical tenders and proposals.

· Strong command of AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Office and relevant design or calculation tools.

· Excellent technical writing, presentation and communication skills in English.

· Strong analytical, problem solving, coordination and commercial awareness.

Technical Competencies

· CCTV and VMS: camera selection and coverage, bandwidth and storage calculations, H.264 and H.265 codecs, server and storage sizing, failover architecture, video walls and control rooms.

· Access control: centralized and decentralized architectures, readers, biometric devices, electronic locks, fail safe and fail secure operation, emergency egress and third party integration.

· Structured cabling: Cat6A, Cat7 and fiber optic infrastructure designed in accordance with ISO IEC 11801, EN 50173 and TIA EIA 568 requirements.

· Networking and Wi-Fi: network topology, switching, routing, firewalls, access points, PoE budgets, VLANs, QoS, site surveys and RF planning.

· Infrastructure: equipment racks, UPS selection, power requirements and supporting accessories.

· Product familiarity with relevant platforms and manufacturers, including Hanwha, Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Uniview, Salto, Honeywell and HID, or equivalent solutions.

Regulatory and Certification Requirements

· Working knowledge of applicable UAE security and ICT regulations, including SIRA, MCC, DCC and TDRA requirements.

· Valid certifications from relevant ELV, security or ICT manufacturers are required.

· A valid SIRA or MCC professional licence is an advantage but is not mandatory.

Preferred Experience

· Government and enterprise tendering experience.

· Proven experience designing end to end CCTV, access control, structured cabling and network solutions.

· Established knowledge of UAE and GCC vendors, distributors and market practices.

· Experience advising clients and consultants on technically complex and cost effective solutions.
