SEIMIC FLEET / 2ND ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITY & AUTHORITY

The responsibility includes, but is not limited to:

All maintenance & machinery.

To supervise 3rd and 4th engineer motormen and fitters.

ADMINISTRATION

Responsible to keep logbooks updated with regards to items occurred during his watch.

To prepare handover report to next shift.

OPERATION

Responsible for all machinery during the watch. Any fault to be corrected at once. If there is any doubt related to safety or function of machinery Chief Engineer shall be called.

All adjustments or repairs shall be noted in engine room log book. Temperatures and pressures to be logged during every watch.

MAINTENANCE

Together with the Chief Engineer, is responsible for maintenance on main and auxiliary engines, separators, boilers and steering machinery.

Take tests of boiler and cooling water and keep a log of results.

Weekly check of lifeboats engine, workboat and FRC engine and emergency diesel.

SPARE PARTS

To keep a log of spare parts used during the watch.

Responsible for store keeping of machinery small items.

TRAINING

The 2nd Engineer shall be familiar with Job Description for Chief Engineer
