About the Role
We are looking for a Fashion Purchasing Specialist with experience in the women's wear industry to manage the sourcing and purchasing of fabrics, trims, and other fashion materials. The ideal candidate should have a strong artistic and fashion eye, excellent attention to detail, and solid experience dealing with fashion suppliers and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase fabrics, trims, accessories, and other materials required for women's wear collections.
- Review materials to ensure they meet the required quality, color, texture, composition, finish, and design specifications.
- Work closely with the Fashion Design and Production teams to understand material requirements and ensure accurate purchasing.
- Evaluate and compare suppliers based on quality, price, availability, lead time, and reliability.
- Communicate and negotiate with local and international vendors regarding prices, quantities, lead times, and specifications.
- Request and review material samples before confirming purchases.
- Ensure all purchased materials match the approved samples and required specifications.
- Conduct quality checks and identify any discrepancies or issues with received materials.
- Stay updated on fashion trends, fabrics, materials, colors, and market developments to support the sourcing process.
- Support the team in finding new suppliers and alternative materials when needed.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, or procurement within the fashion/apparel industry.
- Strong knowledge of women's wear fabrics, trims, and fashion materials.
- Previous experience dealing with fashion vendors and suppliers is highly preferred.
- Strong artistic eye and sense of fashion, with the ability to evaluate materials from both aesthetic and technical perspectives.
- Good understanding of fabric quality, composition, texture, color, and suitability for different garments.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality awareness.
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers, orders, and deadlines.
- Good knowledge of the local fashion/materials market and suppliers.
