Position Purpose
The Finance Lead is responsible for the operational and financial oversight of the
companys day-to-day finance activities under the supervision of the Chief Financial
Officer. The role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, supervises the accounting
team, and monitors the financial performance of both the Warehouse and Procurement
departments. The Finance Lead analyzes results, identifies risks and variances, and
reports findings and recommendations to the CFO to support informed financial
decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee the preparation of monthly and periodic financial statements (Income
Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of accounting records with
approved policies and standards.
Manage the monthly financial closing process and ensure timely completion.
Prepare financial reports and analytical summaries for submission to the CFO.
2. Supervision of the Accounting Team
Directly supervise the accounting team and assign roles and responsibilities.
Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial adjustments.
Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to financial procedures.
Develop team capabilities and improve reporting quality and efficiency.
3. Monitoring & Control of Warehouse Results
Review and analyze warehouse and inventory reports (quantities, values,
turnover).
Ensure proper inventory valuation and reconciliation with accounting records.
Monitor stocktaking results and investigate inventory variances.
Analyze the impact of inventory on Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and profitability.
Provide periodic reports to the CFO on warehouse performance and related risks.
4. Monitoring & Control of Procurement Results
Review procurement reports and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
Monitor purchase prices, sourcing costs, and their impact on margins.
Analyze supplier performance from a cost and compliance perspective.
Ensure adherence to purchasing policies and financial approval workflows.
Recommend cost optimization and procurement efficiency improvements.
5. Cost Control & Internal Controls
Monitor Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and operating expenses.
Ensure effective implementation of financial policies and internal controls.
Support the CFO in strengthening internal control frameworks.
Identify financial and operational risks and escalate them appropriately.
6. Coordination & Executive Support
Coordinate between Accounting, Warehouse, and Procurement departments to
ensure data consistency and integration.
Act as the operational finance liaison between the CFO and the departments
under the finance function.
Support the CFO with analytical reports for executive management and board
review.
Authority & Decision Rights
Review and validate accounting entries and operational financial reports prior to
CFO submission.
Request financial and operational data from Accounting, Warehouse, and
Procurement teams.
Propose improvements to financial policies, procedures, and controls.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (postgraduate degree
preferred).
Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA are an advantage.
Minimum of 7 years experience in finance or accounting, including supervisory
responsibility.
Proven experience overseeing warehouse and procurement financial controls.
Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory management.
