Job Description
Responsible for performing administrative, clerical or technical work in the planning and execution of activities of a component / department. May supervise technical and clerical workers engaged in executing component/department projects. Work is performed under general supervision with latitude for use of college policies and procedures. Assist in developing and providing technical training to the clerical staff. Work under direct supervision of a department director/supervisor.
Essential Functions
Develop administrative procedures, standards and methods; prepare or assist in preparing manuals and publications for the component/department.
Plan, prepare, or supervise the preparation of periodic and special reports, which may include minutes of meetings.
Coordinate the planning, preparation and production of materials for the component/department meetings. May attend off-site meetings.
Assist in the preparation of the component/department budget and/or annual operating plan.
Advise the director/supervisor on administrative matters within the department.
Maintain accounting and administrative records.
May assist in orientation and training of personnel.
Act as a catalyst for the staff in developing improved work methods and procedures.
May coordinate director's/supervisor's schedule.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
Associates Degree in appropriated field from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by appropriate continuing education courses.
Five years of relevant work experience in the area of assignment that shows progressive responsibility to professional levels comparable to the execution of duties and responsibilities.
Should have considerable experience in a recognized profession or business, and specialized training in office practices and administrative procedures.
Skill in the use of personal computer equipment and software, including COLLEAGUE, Excel, Internet browsers, Power Point, and Word.
Ability to plan and supervise the work of others; to handle administrative problems resourcefully; to compose effective correspondence; to keep complex records; to prepare accurate reports from statistical or other types of technical information, and to deal effectively with professionals, the public, and other employees in a pleasant and effective manner.
