About the job Sr. Short Term Planner
Purpose of Role:
The Senior STP Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans that ensure a safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of ore and waste in an open-pit mining operation. This role focuses on translating long-term strategic goals into actionable operational plans, managing geological and geotechnical constraints, and collaborating closely with mine operations, processing, geology, and other technical teams to maximize production and achieve key performance indicators.
Minimum Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelors degree in mining engineering or a related field (e.g., Geological Engineering).
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mine planning for open-pit operations, with a strong focus on short-term planning and ore control.
- Proficiency in using mine planning software packages (Minesight, Deswik, or similar).
- Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with advanced optimization techniques in mine planning.
- Familiarity with geological modeling software.
- Experience in a similar commodity (e.g., gold, copper, iron ore).
