About the job Hydrologist
Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Mine Hydrogeologist will assist the project by collecting, processing, and interpreting data. The work environment provides a diverse experience working with various professionals from different departments with responsibilities outside and in-office.
Role Accountabilities:
- Support the senior geotechnical engineer with the feasibility study by critically assessing the technical and financial aspects of the project.
- Independently performs routine work such as: collecting and assessing hydrogeological data, identifying hazards, site inspections and reports, coordinating with staff and consultants.
- Review and perform borehole testing such as packer, airlift, pump, and injection tests.
- Collect and assess monitoring data.
- QA/QC hydrogeological and geotechnical data.
- Read technical reports and provide summaries of the contents.
- Assist with developing ground water monitoring plans and data collection systems.
- Provide support on projects related to the hydrology and geotechnical program.
- Complete workplace examinations identifying safety hazards.
- Assist with planning for hydrology and geotechnical data acquisition in support of the feasibility study.
Minimum Qualifications and Education:
- Bachelor of Engineering or Science in Hydrology, Mining, Civil, Geological, Geotechnical, or related engineering/science discipline is required.
- Previous experience installing piezometers and borehole testing.
- Proficient with MS Office, related software, and computers.
- Ability to travel to and from sites is required.
- Strong communication and team skills are required.
Preferred Qualification:
- Previous experience at a mine site is preferred.
- Experience with ArcGIS, QGIS, MODFLOW, SEEP/W, MinePlan, other related software.
