Logistics Supervisor

Reports to: Logistics and Distribution Manager

Work Location: Lagos

Purpose: To implement SOPs that support the seamless logistics operations of the company, including the transportation and distribution of petroleum products. This role ensures that all logistics activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervise the daily activities of logistics officers, ensuring that all transportation

operations are carried out effectively and in accordance with the companys standards.

Plan, schedule, and coordinate the transportation of petroleum products from depots and jetties to retail outlets, ensuring timely delivery.

Optimize distribution routes to minimize costs, reduce transit times, and improve delivery efficiency.

Coordinate vehicle assignments, ensuring that drivers and logistics officers are assigned to the correct routes and tasks.

Monitor fuel consumption and track the performance of logistics operations to identify opportunities for improvement.

Conduct regular safety checks on vehicles and ensure that all transportation activities comply with industry safety standards and company policies.

Liaise with the Fleet Manager to ensure vehicles are maintained in good working condition, scheduling regular maintenance and repairs as needed.

Provide regular updates and reports to the Fleet Manager on logistics performance, route efficiency, and any operational issues.

Train and mentor logistics officers, ensuring they understand their roles and

responsibilities and comply with safety and operational protocols.

Handle any issues or delays in transportation and resolve them promptly to avoid disruption to service delivery.

Key Accountabilitiess:

Ensure that all logistics operations run smoothly and that petroleum products are delivered on time and in the required condition.

Ensure the optimal use of logistics officers and vehicles to maximize efficiency and minimize operational costs.

Maintain full compliance with safety regulations, ensuring all logistics activities meet company standards.

Monitor and report on logistics performance, identifying areas for improvement in operational efficiency

Key Interfaces: Internal stakeholders Cargo and Depot Operations

External Stakeholders Trucking Agencies and Drivers

Supervises:

KPIs: Percentage of deliveries completed on time, with a target to maintain high on-time delivery performance.

Rate of vehicle utilization, aiming for optimal usage and minimal idle time.

Number of safety incidents or non-compliances, aiming for zero incidents.

Route optimization and cost savings achieved through improved logistics planning.

Performance of logistics officers, including adherence to operational procedures and safety standards.

Job Attributes: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate logistics officers and drivers.

High attention to detail, ensuring that all logistics activities are performed in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple logistics operations simultaneously.

Good communication skills for interacting with the Fleet Manager, logistics officers, and other internal stakeholders.

Problem-solving abilities to handle delays, route issues, and other logistical challenges efficiently.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:

Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or fleet management, preferably within the oil and gas industry.

Experience supervising logistics teams and managing transportation operations.

Proficiency in logistics planning tools, fleet management software, and route optimization techniques.

Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
