About the job Farm Manager

Our client, a leading provider of high-quality poultry products in Delta State, seeks an experienced and dynamic Farm Manager. The farm produces premium poultry products for local and regional markets. The Farm Manager will oversee all aspects of the poultry farms operations, optimize production, ensure compliance with regulations, manage staff, and develop strategic plans for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall Farm Management:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans, and ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Oversee daily operations, including feeding, breeding, health management, and managing the supply chain for necessary inputs.

Health and Welfare:

  • Monitor poultry health and implement management practices.
  • Conduct health checks and manage vaccination programs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of poultry facilities.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols for staff and poultry.
  • Enforce biosecurity measures.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the farm's budget.
  • Monitor financial performance and improve profitability.
  • Prepare financial reports.

Staff Management:

  • Supervise and train farm staff.
  • Develop work schedules and conduct performance evaluations.

Research and Development:

  • Stay updated with poultry farming trends.
  • Implement new technologies and practices.
  • Conduct research to improve poultry health and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 years of poultry farm management experience, including 4 years in a supervisory role, with a degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of poultry farming best practices and familiarity with agricultural machinery and farm management software.
  • Proven team management and strategic initiative skills with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and email.
  • Willingness to work in both office and farm environments with flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and an understanding of local agricultural practices and regulations.
