Role summary

A Finance Officer in an HR Consulting firm at Ikeja will oversee day-to-day finance operations, statutory compliance, and management reporting to support business decisions. The role requires strong hands-on experience with payroll, Tax and regulatory remittances, QuickBooks, and working with auditors.

Key responsibilities

    • Prepare and process monthly payroll for all staff and ensure accurate computation of salaries, allowances, bonuses, deductions, and net pay.
    • Compute and remit all statutory deductions, including PAYE, Pension, NSITF, and other applicable statutory contributions.
    • Liaise with tax authorities (e.g., FIRS and State IRS) to ensure timely filing and payment of taxes and levies.
    • Prepare, issue, and track client invoices and monitor outstanding receivables, follow up with clients on overdue invoices, and maintain an aging report.
    • Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate recording of receipts in QuickBooks.
    • Maintain accurate records of all payables and reconcile vendor statements regularly.
    • Record all financial transactions (income, expenses, journals) in QuickBooks and ensure proper coding to cost centres and projects.
    • Prepare monthly bank, cash, and other balance sheet reconciliations, promptly resolving reconciling items.
    • Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow) and variance analysis for management review.
    • Support budgeting and forecasting, including preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecast updates.
    • Provide financial insights on revenue, margins, operating costs, and project profitability to support strategic decisions.
    • Prepare audit schedules and support both internal and external auditors with required documentation.
    • Support costing and pricing of proposals (SLA, retainers, outsourcing rates, etc.) with financial analysis.

Requirements (sample)

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance; professional qualification (ICAN/ACCA in view or part-qualified) is an advantage.
  • 3-5 years proven experience as a Finance Officer/Accountant, preferably in professional services, or similar service-oriented business.
  • Strong experience with payroll, Nigerian statutory deductions (PAYE, Pension, FIRS, etc.), and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar accounting software) and advanced Excel skills.
