Job Summary: The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to promote the NGOs mission, programs, and activities. This role involves creating content, managing social media, story telling, coordinating public relations efforts, and enhancing the organizations visibility and engagement with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication Strategy:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support the NGOs goals and objectives.
    • Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjust as necessary.
  2. Content Creation:

    • Create and manage content for various platforms, including social media, website, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
    • Must be able to develop and write compelling stories on behalf of the firm.
    • Write and edit compelling stories, articles, and reports that highlight the NGOs impact.
    • Develop multimedia content, including photos, videos, and infographics, to engage and inform target audiences.
  3. Social Media Management:

    • Manage the NGOs social media accounts, including content planning, posting, and engagement.
    • Develop and implement social media campaigns to increase awareness and engagement.
    • Monitor social media metrics and provide regular reports on performance.
  4. Public Relations:

    • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
    • Coordinate press releases, media briefings, and interviews to promote the NGOs work.
    • Manage media inquiries and monitor media coverage of the organization.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Engage with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members, to promote the NGOs mission and activities.
    • Coordinate and manage events, workshops, and campaigns to enhance stakeholder engagement.
    • Develop and distribute regular updates and newsletters to stakeholders.
  6. Brand Management:

    • Ensure the NGOs brand is consistently represented across all communications.
    • Develop and maintain brand guidelines and ensure compliance by all staff.
    • Enhance the NGOs visibility and reputation through strategic branding initiatives.
  7. Internal Communication:

    • Coordinate internal communication efforts to keep staff informed and engaged.
    • Develop internal newsletters, updates, and other communication materials.
    • Facilitate effective communication between departments and project teams.
  8. Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns.
    • Prepare regular reports on communication activities and outcomes.
    • Use data and feedback to continuously improve communication efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field. A masters degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, preferably in the NGO sector.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong storytelling and content creation abilities.
  • Proficiency in social media management and digital marketing.
  • Experience with media relations and public relations strategies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Salary - N250,000 - 300,000 PM
