About the job HSE OFFICER
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced HSE Officer to join the team in Kano. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health, safety, and environmental management, with at least 3 years of relevant experience. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring HSE policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and promoting a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
* Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures.
* Carry out regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
* Lead incident investigations and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
* Organize safety training and awareness programs for staff and contractors.
* Maintain up-to-date records of incidents, near misses, and safety-related activities.
* Ensure all staff adhere to company and regulatory HSE requirements.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
* Promote a culture of safety across all levels of the organization.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or HND in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 3 years of relevant HSE experience.
* Professional certification in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, ISPON, OSHA) is highly desirable.
* Strong knowledge of Nigerian HSE laws and regulations.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
