Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our client's IT consulting firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for recording business transactions, managing accounts receivable and payable, and ensuring accurate financial data updates. They will assist in preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and supporting senior accountants with month-end and year-end closings.

Responsibilities:

• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded

• Update accounts receivable and issue invoices
• Creating procedures and policies that ensure timely payments while maintaining a high level of customer retention
• Liaising with customers, as well as internal personnel including the sales team

• Update accounts payable and perform reconciliations
• Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
• Assist with reviewing of expenses, payroll records etc. as assigned
• Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
• Assist senior accountants in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings
• Assist with other accounting projects across East and West Africa
• Reconciliation of Withholding Tax deducted with Withholding Tax remitted by clients.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Proven experience as an accountant
• Excellent organizing abilities
• Great attention to detail
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
• Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Excel is compulsory) and familiarity with relevant accounting software
• Qualifications (Student Member of ICAN on Skill Level)
• HND/BSC in accounting, finance or relevant field
• 2 3 years post NYSC experience required

Salary: N300k
