Position Overview
We are seeking experienced, disciplined, and results-driven Poultry Pen Supervisors to oversee the day-to-day management of our poultry livestock pens. The ideal candidate will lead pen operations to ensure optimal bird health, welfare, hygiene, and productivity. This role requires proactive individuals with strong supervisory skills, hands-on experience in poultry operations, and the capacity to enforce operational discipline in alignment with company biosecurity, health, and safety standards.
As a critical part of our farm operations, the Poultry Pen Supervisor will be responsible for executing standard operating procedures, training and supervising pen workers, and maintaining detailed records of pen-related activities to ensure efficient, clean, and compliant livestock housing.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Pen Management
- Oversee daily routines for feeding, watering, litter management, and sanitation within the poultry pens.
- Enforce scheduled routines including lighting programs, vaccination, and biosecurity protocols.
- Monitor ambient temperature, ventilation, and humidity levels to ensure a healthy living environment for the birds.
Animal Health & Welfare
- Closely monitor the birds for signs of illness, abnormal behavior, or injury, and promptly escalate findings to the veterinary team.
- Administer basic treatments and support vaccination protocols as directed by the Farm Veterinarian.
- Enforce proper isolation and culling practices when necessary to prevent disease spread.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Mortality and morbidity rates within acceptable thresholds
- Accurate and timely reporting of livestock data
- Compliance with biosecurity and animal welfare standards
- Worker productivity and task completion rates
- Reduction in feed wastage and contamination
- Readiness of pens for new stocking cycles
- Minimal downtime from equipment or infrastructure issues
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Minimum Qualification: National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelors Degree in Animal Science, Agricultural Technology, Livestock Management, or related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 23 years in poultry farming, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role overseeing pen or livestock operations.
- Strong working knowledge of poultry farming operations, hygiene management, and livestock welfare principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and enforce compliance across operational procedures.
- Proficiency in farm record keeping and familiarity with digital tools for livestock management is an added advantage.
- Physically fit and willing to work in challenging farm environments, including early hours, weekends, and public holidays.

- Provide hands-on training to workers on handling, hygiene, pen cleaning, and emergency protocols.

- Ensure all activities within the pens comply with internal farm policies, national health and safety regulations, and animal welfare standards.
- Enforce strict biosecurity protocols for all staff, visitors, and equipment entering pen areas.
- Ensure proper usage and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitation systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on feed and water consumption, mortality rates, treatment logs, vaccination records, and production output.
- Track and report inventory levels of feed, medications, disinfectants, and other pen-related supplies.
- Coordinate with the farm store and procurement units for timely restocking.
- Report pen infrastructure issues and collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure timely repair of feeders, drinkers, lighting, and ventilation systems.
- Conduct routine pen inspections and recommend improvements for pen layout, hygiene, and bird comfort.
