Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and Repair

Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems,

equipment, and machinery onboard ships or within industrial settings.

  • Installation and Testing

Assist in the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems and

components, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Inspection and Evaluation

Conduct regular inspections of electrical equipment and systems to assess their operational status, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory levels. Prepare reports on electrical system status, maintenance activities, and recommendations for improvements.

  • Safety Compliance

Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with electrical systems. Ensure that all electrical work is performed by applicable safety standards to prevent accidents and hazards.

  • Training and Support

Provide training and support to crew members or staff on electrical system operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.

  • Emergency Response

Respond promptly to electrical emergencies and breakdowns, implementing appropriate measures to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of personnel and assets.

  • Continuous Improvement

Stay updated on advancements in electrical technology, regulations, and best practices. Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings in electrical operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering / Etronics Marine Engineering
  •  Relevant work experience in electrical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, preferably in marine or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and components commonly used in maritime or industrial settings.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards governing electrical installations, such as SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) and IMO (International Maritime Organization) requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently.
  •  Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on safety, quality and reliability.
  • COC class 2 as a Chief Engineer within electrical knowledge and must have seagoing experience.
  • Willingness to travel and work in diverse environments, including onboard ships or offshore installations, as needed.
