Role summary

The Process Lead is responsible for the technical integrity of all process engineering deliverables across assigned oil and gas projects. The role ensures that PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, process datasheets and operating philosophies fully align with the FEED, safety requirements and process performance criteria.​

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development, review and approval of process design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances and process simulations.​
  • Prepare and validate process datasheets, operating philosophies and control narratives, ensuring safe, efficient and operable process schemes.​
  • Ensure full alignment of process designs with FEED documentation, project scope, safety standards and defined performance criteria.​
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, piping, E&I, safety and operations teams to secure full integration of process designs across all disciplines.​
  • Lead or participate in design and safety reviews (e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, SIL), ensuring that process risks are identified, documented and addressed in the design.​
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to process engineers, reviewing their work for accuracy, consistency and compliance with standards.​
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, standards and client specifications for all process engineering activities.​
  • Support commissioning and start‑up teams with process input, operating procedures and troubleshooting as required.​
  • Contribute to optimisation and debottlenecking studies to improve plant performance, reliability and energy efficiency.​
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations and documentation required for internal reviews, client approvals and regulatory submissions.​

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.​
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in process engineering, with significant time in a similar lead/process lead role within the oil and gas sector.​
  • Strong experience developing and owning PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, process datasheets and process philosophies for oil and gas facilities.​
  • Proven involvement in FEED, detailed design and safety reviews (HAZOP/HAZID/SIL) for upstream, midstream or downstream projects.​
  • Solid knowledge of applicable process engineering standards and best practices, with strong focus on safety and operability.​
  • Excellent leadership, communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary project environment.
