About the Role
We are hiring a Security Systems Technician to support the setup, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of camera, access control, and fire alarm systems.
This role is best suited for someone with hands-on low-voltage security experience who is comfortable working with cameras, access control equipment, basic networking, and system troubleshooting.
The main systems we are focused on are Ubiquiti UniFi cameras, UniFi Access, and Potter fire alarm systems. Experience with other security, camera, intercom, or access control platforms is helpful but not required.
This is not a general desktop IT support role. It is focused on security systems, low-voltage equipment, and technical support for field installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and troubleshoot Ubiquiti UniFi cameras and UniFi Access systems
- Support setup and coordination for Potter fire alarm systems or similar commercial fire alarm platforms
- Assist with camera, access control, and fire alarm system preparation before final installation
- Assign IP addresses and adjust basic network settings for connected devices
- Test camera feeds, card readers, door access, fire system connectivity, and related equipment
- Troubleshoot device communication issues, system setup problems, and basic network conflicts
- Support field technicians remotely during installation, testing, and service calls
- Coordinate with project managers and field teams through WhatsApp or similar tools
- Document system settings, testing results, and completed work
- Provide occasional urgent support when needed
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage security, camera, access control, or fire alarm systems
- Experience configuring or troubleshooting Ubiquiti UniFi cameras or UniFi Access
- Experience with Potter fire alarm systems or another commercial fire alarm platform is strongly preferred
- Basic understanding of IP networking, including IP addresses, gateways, and device connectivity
- Ability to troubleshoot cameras, access control devices, fire alarm equipment, or similar connected systems
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to work independently and support field teams remotely
- Availability during U.S. business hours
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:
- Digital Watchdog camera systems
- Paxton access control
- Akuvox intercoms
- Hikvision cameras or NVRs
- Other camera, access control, intercom, or fire alarm systems
- Remote troubleshooting or pre-installation system testing
- Working with a security company, low-voltage contractor, fire alarm company, or systems integrator
