About the Role
We are hiring a Mechanical HVAC BIM Designer to create and coordinate detailed HVAC models and shop drawings using Revit. This role requires strong mechanical drafting knowledge, daily clash detection experience, and the ability to resolve coordination issues across architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
You will work closely with an in-house Project Manager to update models based on coordination meetings, engineering comments, revised backgrounds, and project changes.
Responsibilities
- Model complete HVAC systems in Revit 2026, including ductwork, equipment, diffusers, grilles, and related components.
- Develop mechanical shop drawings from engineer-provided plans.
- Model and update reflected ceiling plans.
- Coordinate HVAC layouts with architectural, structural, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
- Perform daily clash detection and coordination using Navisworks.
- Identify conflicts and propose practical coordination solutions.
- Coordinate mechanical openings, sleeves, refrigeration lines, and condensate piping.
- Update models based on architectural and structural revisions.
- Address comments from mechanical engineers and coordination teams.
- Apply applicable mechanical codes and project standards.
- Add elevation tags, annotations, and graphic details required for final deliverables.
- Review work for accuracy before submission.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
Requirements
- Experience with commercial, multifamily, or mixed-use projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit MEP.
- Strong Navisworks clash detection and coordination experience.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of HVAC ductwork, equipment, air distribution, and central mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with systems such as VRV, PTAC, and single-port systems.
- Ability to read architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of mechanical codes and standards, including IMC, SMACNA, or local equivalents.
- Experience coordinating openings and sleeves.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to respond quickly to revisions and project coordination requests.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Design, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
