CVA - Industrial Engineer

Purpose:

As an Industrial Engineer at Central Valley Ag, you will focus on optimizing the efficiency and productivity of feed mill operations. You will apply engineering principles to analyze workflows, improve processes, and ensure effective utilization of resources. Your work will contribute to better production outcomes, cost reduction, and enhanced product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial engineering, preferably within manufacturing or feed mill operations.
  • Strong understanding of process improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Proficient in data analysis and using engineering tools for process optimization (e.g., AutoCAD, ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, safety standards, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing feed mill processes and identify opportunities for improvement, focusing on efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Develop and implement engineering solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs, utilizing principles of industrial engineering.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, and equipment performance evaluations to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to optimize the utilization of equipment, labor, and materials.
  • Assist in the design, installation, and testing of new processes or equipment, ensuring adherence to industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Monitor production metrics and analyze data to ensure that operational goals are met consistently.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Provide training and support to staff on new procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP policies, safety protocols, and other regulatory requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with production and sales teams to ensure smooth coordination of feed delivery and loading processes.
  • Implement process changes to enhance inventory management, reduce waste, and ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Use engineering tools to prepare reports, cost estimates, and production forecasts.
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures to reflect process improvements and maintain high-quality production standards.
  • Evaluate the performance of machinery and recommend maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in project management for operational changes, including timeline creation, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
