Purpose:

As a Mechanical Engineer at Cardinal IG - Fargo, you will focus on improving and optimizing the performance of advanced automated glass production equipment. You will apply engineering principles to develop strategies for process improvement, conduct performance analysis, and provide technical guidance to ensure efficient, reliable, and safe operations. Your expertise will drive improvements in productivity, equipment reliability, and product quality.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial mechanical engineering, preferably within manufacturing or automated production environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles related to pneumatics, control systems, and industrial automation.
  • Experience with process improvement strategies and performance optimization of high-tech production equipment.
  • Proficient in data analysis and troubleshooting mechanical systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using engineering best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail and safety standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engineering strategies to improve the performance and reliability of automated production equipment, including:
    • Tempering furnaces
    • Automated cutting systems
    • Automated insulating equipment
    • Spacer forming and assembly equipment
  • Conduct detailed engineering analysis of equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and areas for process optimization.
  • Lead initiatives to improve production processes, increase equipment reliability, and reduce downtime through engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with the operations and maintenance teams to develop and refine preventive maintenance strategies based on equipment performance data.
  • Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, recommending engineering-driven improvements rather than hands-on maintenance.
  • Use engineering tools such as data analysis, simulation, and modeling to support the design and implementation of new production processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean Manufacturing and other engineering methodologies to optimize production efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices in the engineering and maintenance of equipment.
  • Lead engineering projects focused on the installation and optimization of new mechanical systems.

Job Duties:

  • Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs for automated production equipment, ensuring alignment with engineering best practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and engineering analysis of equipment to identify and implement improvements in reliability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and maintenance, to integrate new technologies and improve existing systems.
  • Provide technical guidance to the maintenance team, ensuring adherence to engineering standards without directly performing maintenance tasks.
  • Use engineering data to assess equipment health, create long-term reliability plans, and minimize the risk of unplanned downtime.
  • Lead projects related to equipment upgrades, new system designs, and process enhancements that leverage advanced mechanical engineering principles.
  • Ensure all engineering solutions are compliant with safety and regulatory requirements, promoting a safe and efficient workplace.
