Platform Staff Engineer

Job Brief:

We are looking for an exceptional Platform Staff Engineer to join our team and lead the design, development, and maintenance of our core platform infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software architecture principles. You will play a pivotal role in driving technical innovation and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our platform.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable and reliable platform services and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define platform requirements and architectural designs.
• Develop and maintain automation tools and processes to streamline platform deployment and operations.
• Implement best practices for system security, monitoring, and observability.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and rollback.
• Lead incident response and resolution efforts, including root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization to improve system efficiency and resource utilization.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on platform design and development best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on platform development.
• Strong expertise in cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems design principles and microservices architecture.
• Experience with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes or Docker Swarm.
• Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security best practices.
• - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in production environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in cloud platforms such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, or Apache Hadoop.
• Knowledge of modern database systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL databases.
• Contributions to open-source projects or participation in the engineering community.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
