About the job Licensed Vocational Nurse
Licensed vocational nurses are needed to provide managed health care for offenders in a prison hospital / clinic setting. Make up to $35 per hour at a hospital that is known for is known for its innovative programs and creative solutions in the fields of correctional health care in jails, state prisons, juvenile detention centers, and federal prisons.
Requirements:
Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (emailed)
Must be willing to complete a criminal background screening questionnaire
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg or LTAC experience
American Heart Association BLS required
IV Therapy Certified
Willingness to work 4:3 rotating schedule
Ability to do a lot of different jobs Clinic, in-patient, med pass, out-patient, wound care, cell side care, ER, critical care
Covid-19 Vaccine, Varicella, MMR, T-Dap, TB, HepB, Current Physical, Flu
Job Duties:
Provides nursing services, treatments, diagnostic, and preventive procedures appropriate for inmate care and safety
Interprets physicians orders
Administers prescribed medication
When a physician is present, assist the physician with sick calls
Applies surgical dressings and bandages
Provides emergency first-aid care
Check and record vital signs
Instruct inmates concerning discharge planning
Observes signs and symptoms during a sick call when the physician is not present
Reports reactions to treatments and medications as well as changes in the inmates emotional or physical condition
May instruct and supervise correctional staff concerning inmate health care and needs
Consults with supervisor on problem cases
Check and orders supplies
Maintains accurate medical records
Provides health care education to inmates
