Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant with approximately 6 years of public practice experience to join our team.  This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a strong background in individual tax returns and financial statement preparation to thrive in a supportive, collaborative environment.

In this role, you will play a key part in preparing tax returns and financial statements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts. You will work closely with both remote and in-office team members to deliver high-quality outcomes and support clients in achieving their financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual tax returns, with a solid understanding of complex topics such as CGT, employee share schemes and crypto.
  • Prepare financial statements and tax returns for partnerships, companies, and trusts (including deceased estates).
  • Oversee the work of remote team members, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
  • Communicate with clients to resolve queries and provide updates on their tax matters.
  • Contribute to tax planning strategies to ensure clients are positioned for optimal financial outcomes.
  • Utilise your strong problem-solving skills and keen eye for detail to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Manage workflow to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Partner with the Senior client manager on client portfolio management and strategic planning.
  • Build lasting client relationships through clear communication and trusted advice.
  • Stay ahead of legislative changes and implement compliance practices.
  • Conduct client meetings, review financial statements, and present key findings and recommendations.
  • Stay informed on changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends to provide up-to-date, strategic advice.
  • Ensure all client deliverables meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations.

Skills:

    • 6+ years of experience in public practice accounting, with extensive exposure to individual tax returns and entity-based returns.
    • Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations.
    • Expertise in Xero and Xero Practice Manager software, and advanced Excel skills.
    • Proven ability to manage and develop client relationships.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience reviewing work and mentoring junior accounting staff.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with both remote and office-based colleagues.
