About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our internal finance team. This is an in-house position supporting the finance operations of Jarras internal group of companies, not a public practice role, and not client-facing.
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping of a complex multi-entity structure, including SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles), unit trusts, and internal operating companies. This is a hands-on role that combines transactional work with reporting and compliance support.
You'll report to the Group Accountant and collaborate closely with the Group Financial Consultant on strategy, consolidated reporting, and process improvement.
What You'll Do
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping across 10+ internal entities (SPVs, trusts, operating companies)
- Manage accounts payable/receivable workflows
- Lead payroll processing using Xero Payroll or external providers, ensuring Fair Work compliance
- Prepare and lodge STP (Single Touch Payroll) reports; manage PAYG and superannuation
- Support Business Activity Statement (BAS) preparation and ATO lodgement
- Assist with month-end reporting and financial close tasks
- Oversee and train offshore admin staff for invoice intake and processing
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years bookkeeping experience within an Australian business or finance team
- Strong proficiency in Xero and Excel
- Experience working with multi-entity structures
- Excellent communication, file management, and attention to detail
- Proactive, solutions-focused approach to finance operations
Bonus Points For
- Experience with unit trusts, SPVs, and company accounting
- Background in commercial property, development finance, or funds management
- Familiarity with tools like Fathom, Spotlight, ApprovalMax, Dext Prepare, or Hubdoc
