Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to manage client accounting engagements, review team work, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

This role is responsible for maintaining client books in QuickBooks Online, performing reconciliations and clean-ups, reviewing the work of other accountants, and supporting client relationships through monthly financial check-in meetings.

Success in this role requires strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to both clients and team members.

Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting

  • Maintain and manage client accounting records in QuickBooks Online
  • Perform QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online conversions
  • Conduct clean-ups and catch-ups for new clients with incomplete or inaccurate books
  • Classify transactions and complete monthly reconciliations for bank, credit card, and liability accounts
  • Reconcile and tie out payroll liabilities and payroll expenses

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statement packages (Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss)
  • Ensure financial packages are delivered by the 15th of each month
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries and supporting workpapers when necessary
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies within client financial records

Tax & Compliance Support

  • Prepare state sourcing schedules for Washington excise tax reporting
  • Ensure supporting financial data is accurate for tax preparation and compliance

Review & Team Support

  • Review the work of accountants for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide feedback and guidance to improve team quality and consistency
  • Assist team members with troubleshooting accounting or QuickBooks issues

Client Communication

  • Facilitate monthly 30-minute accounting check-in meetings with clients
  • Communicate financial results and answer accounting-related questions
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with clients

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or a client service environment
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks Online
  • Experience with QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online conversions
  • Experience performing account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
  • Experience reviewing the work of other accountants and bookkeepers
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting and payroll liability reconciliation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to clients

  • Salary range $70,000 – $90,000 depending on experience
