Position Summary

As an Intermediate Accountant at Argent Tax & Advisory, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality accounting and tax services to our clients. You'll be preparing financial statements, tax returns, and providing practical support that helps clients move forward with confidence.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys public practice, values balance, and wants to develop their skills in a calm, well-structured environment, without the pressure and politics of a large firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial statements for a range of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Assist with the preparation and lodgement of individual, company, trust, and partnership tax returns
  • Bookkeeping and transactional reconciliations
  • Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records
  • Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines in a planned and sustainable way
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax legislation and accounting standards
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development

Systems & Technology (desirable, but not essential)

  • BGL Super
  • FYI Docs
  • Ignition

The firm is transitioning to Karbon, so prior Karbon experience is highly desirable.

Skills & Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in Australian public practice accounting
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and tax compliance
  • Experience in preparing financial statements and tax returns
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Solid interest in building efficiencies and not conforming to the status quo
  • Good communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a structured environment
  • A genuine interest in growing with a small firm and contributing to its success – Collaboration is a must!
