Role Overview

As a Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical performance, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels. This role requires close coordination with ship crews, shipyards, classification societies, and external service providers to ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical condition and operational readiness of assigned vessels.

  • Plan, monitor, and control preventive and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Manage vessel repairs, dry-docking projects, and major overhauls, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulations, flag state requirements, and classification society rules.

  • Monitor vessel performance, machinery condition, and fuel efficiency, and propose technical improvements where necessary.

  • Provide technical support to shipboard engineers, including troubleshooting machinery, propulsion, electrical, and auxiliary systems.

  • Review and approve technical reports, defect lists, spare parts requisitions, and service records.

  • Coordinate inspections, surveys, audits, and certifications with relevant authorities and third parties.

  • Manage technical documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping across the fleet.

  • Respond to technical emergencies and operational issues, including outside regular working hours when required.

  • Conduct vessel visits and attend dry-dockings and shipyard stays as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.

  • Relevant maritime certification or license (e.g., Chief Engineer / Class I) is highly preferred.

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Technical Superintendent, with proven responsibility for vessel maintenance and repairs.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of m

    ain and auxiliary engine, propulsion and power generation system, electrical and automation systems, hull, piping, and deck machinery
  • Demonstrated experience managing dry-dockings, major repairs, and inspections.

  • Solid understanding of international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and class rules.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle technical issues under pressure.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, able to work effectively with ship crews, management, and external stakeholders.

  • High level of organization, accountability, and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to travel frequently and manage urgent or irregular work schedules as required by vessel operations.
