The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing mining projects from initiation to completion. This role ensures that mining operations, infrastructure development, and project execution are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities : 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, defining scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Oversee project feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analysis.
  • Coordinate all project phases, from exploration to extraction and production.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Monitor expenditures, control project costs, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders and senior management.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, geologists, and contractors, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Act as the main point of contact between company executives, regulatory bodies, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular meetings and progress reports to update stakeholders on project status.
  • Ensure all mining operations comply with local and international mining laws, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Identify potential project risks, including operational, environmental, and financial risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Implement best practices in sustainable mining and environmental protection.
  • Track project progress using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare and present project status reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure quality assurance and control throughout project execution.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management within the mining sector, preferably in gold mining.
  • Strong knowledge of mining laws, environmental regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar software).
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work in remote mining locations.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
