Responsibilities :

  • Regularly coordinate and monitor investors/DFIs compliance with the Company's E&S requirements and policies. This includes overseeing the implementation of agreed-upon action plans and attending E&S sub-committee or board meetings as needed.
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and adaptive management of the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) that aligns with the Indonesian law and regulatory requirements, ILO Core Labour Standards, IFC Performance Standards and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. organization's values and goals.
  • Managing a team of health, safety, social and environmental (HSSE) personnel
  • Oversee training materials and conduct regular ESMS training for organization staff and third-party EPC and O&M contractors
  • Oversee and establish HSSE compliance systems in the organizations offices and assets in Indonesia. Conduct thorough HSSE site assessments and corrective action plans, identify and manage HSSE risks and monitor performance indicators. Conducting thorough Environmental and Social assessments and identifying key sustainability risks, opportunities, and performance indicators.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate, monitor implementation of Environmental and Social practices across various business functions, including construction, operations, supply chain, human resources, and finance.
  • Implement the organizations and community grievance mechanism in compliance with the organization's ES requirements. Proactive management of material HSSE grievances to prevent or minimize HSSE risks to affected stakeholders and property
  • Monitoring, data collection and analysis, and reporting on ESMS performance, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI and IFC Performance Standards)
  • Continual engagement with stakeholders, such as investors, employees, customers, and communities, to communicate the organization's ESMS requirements and sustainability efforts and foster meaningful relationships.
  • Staying updated on emerging Environmental and Social trends, best practices, and regulatory developments to drive continuous improvement and innovation.


Formal Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in HSSE-related roles (at least 8+ years) with two references
  • University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. related engineering, environmental studies, social studies or occupational health and safety)
  • Experience in renewable energy or infrastructure sector will be an advantage
  • Ideally, good knowledge and working experience of Good International Industry Practise (GIIP), Indonesian HSSE law and regulatory requirements, ILO Core Labour Standards, IFC Performance Standards and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.


Requirements :

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English and Bahasa Indonesia are a prerequisite. Other languages are considered an advantage.
  • Strong ability to communicate and negotiate technical ES requirements and solutions to different stakeholder groups in a diplomatic and polite manner, especially on contention topics
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Ability to deliver on time and have a proactive and pragmatic approach in the assessment of risks and recommendation of mitigation measures
  • Strong proficiency in risk analysis and managing renewable energy HSSE topics, including ESMS governance, occupational health and safety inclusive fire safety and engineering design, pollution control, core labor requirements, stakeholder engagements, etc. Other topics that would be advantageous are GHG accounting, gender, supply chain risks,
  • Demonstrated ability to manage HSSE professionals and achieve HSSE successes as a team (e.g., motivating, allocating tasks, training, and reviewing performance).
  • Experience with the process of engaging third-party consultants to support ESMS development, regulatory requirements, and third-party audits (e.g. develop and tender requests for proposals and hiring and monitoring engagements with appointed consultants)
  • Familiarity with Environmental and Social reporting standards and frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD) and experience preparing sustainability reports.
    Financial acumen to link sustainability initiatives to business value, articulate the financial implications of Environmental and Social practices, and develop and manage the HSSE budget.
  • Experience conducting stakeholder engagement and managing relationships with supply chain, EPC contractors, O&M contractors, clients, investors, regulators, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management and data analysis, as well as utilizing environmental and social-related data analysis and environmental, social, and communication-related software
