Job Overview
We are assisting one of our manufacturing clients in the automotive sector to hire a Process Engineer for their wire harness production operations.The Process Engineer is responsible for controlling, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes for wire harness and automotive products. This role ensures high standards of quality, reliability, cost efficiency, and compliance throughout the production lifecycle. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to develop new processes, resolve production issues, and support new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve manufacturing processes for wire harness and automotive products.
- Ensure production processes follow approved process flows, machine parameters, and quality standards.
- Set up, validate, and optimize workstations, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
- Identify and resolve process-related issues on production lines to maintain stable and efficient operations.
- Analyze process-related customer complaints using structured problem-solving (4M) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Study and implement new manufacturing methods and processes; update work instructions, flow charts, specifications, and drawings accordingly.
- Drive improvements in cycle time, productivity (UPPH), and manufacturing efficiency across production areas.
- Conduct pilot runs and trials for new processes, materials, or specifications prior to mass production.
- Monitor and analyze yield losses and implement actions to achieve operational KPIs.
- Initiate and manage engineering change requests (ECR), deviation reports (DRN), rework flows, FMEA, WI/SOP, and related process documentation.
- Support new product introduction, value engineering (VE), and value-added (VA) initiatives by proposing cost-effective process or material solutions.
- Implement Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor and control new products during initial and mass production phases.
- Develop work instructions for new products and coordinate fixture/jig concepts with technical teams.
- Verify BOM usage, testing parameters, and product specifications across manufacturing areas.
- Train production operators on new products, processes, and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with safety, ESD, IPC, and quality requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in process or manufacturing engineering within the automotive or wire harness industry.
- Strong knowledge of wire harness manufacturing processes and electrical/electronic components.
- Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma methodologies.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620 standards is an advantage.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and project planning tools is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
