Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and highly experienced Environmental Principal / Senior Project Manager to oversee and drive the success of environmental projects in the Pittsburgh area and beyond. This position presents a unique opportunity to join a growing, employee-owned consulting engineering firm. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience, combining technical expertise with business acumen. This role involves managing client relationships, leading technical teams, and playing a key part in the firms growth and business development efforts.

Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
- Provide expert guidance on a wide range of environmental projects, including environmental due diligence and remediation efforts;
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex environmental challenges, ensuring top-tier project delivery and quality; and
- Serve as the go-to technical authority for environmental projects, ensuring adherence to company standards, industry best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Business Development & Client Relations:
- Cultivate and expand client relationships in the Pittsburgh area and surrounding regions, positioning the firm for long-term success;
- Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, contributing to the firms strategic growth;
- Lead the preparation and presentation of proposals, bids, and technical presentations to secure new contracts; and
- Represent Whitestone Associates at industry conferences, seminars, and networking events, enhancing the companys visibility and reputation.
Project Management:
- Take ownership of project scope, budgets, and timelines, ensuring all deliverables meet or exceed client expectations;
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless project execution and success; and
- Lead contract negotiations, cost estimation, and risk management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Mentorship & Staff Development:
- Provide mentorship and career guidance to engineers, scientists, and geologists, promoting a collaborative and growth-oriented culture; and
- Lead training sessions and professional development initiatives to continuously improve team performance and knowledge.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline;
- Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Pennsylvania Professional Geologist (PG) licensure (or ability to obtain within 6 months);
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience in environmental assessments, including Phase I ESAs, Phase II Site Investigations, multimedia sampling (soil, groundwater, air, etc.), and UST closure;
- Proven expertise in environmental investigations and remediation, with a portfolio of successfully completed projects;
- Strong business development abilities, with a history of building lasting client relationships and driving new business opportunities;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to diverse audiences;
- Strong project management capabilities, with experience overseeing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; and
- Familiarity with the Pittsburgh market and existing local industry connections are a plus.
