Position Overview:
We are seeking a Geotechnical Senior Project Manager with 8+ years of experience to oversee and manage a wide range of geotechnical projects across the New England region. This position requires expertise in conducting and supervising geotechnical investigations, stormwater management evaluations, field testing, and engineering analyses. The Senior Project Manager will take on a leadership role, managing both projects and junior staff while ensuring the highest standards in project execution, client satisfaction, and firm growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical
- Lead and oversee site visits, soil sampling, borehole drilling, test pit investigations, and other geotechnical fieldwork to assess subsurface conditions;
- Supervise geotechnical testing and monitoring during construction, ensuring compliance with design recommendations, material specifications, and regulatory standards;
- Conduct field observations and tests, interpreting data to ensure accurate and reliable results and solutions for complex geotechnical challenges;
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports that include data interpretation, engineering analyses, and actionable recommendations tailored to client needs and project goals;
- Clearly communicate findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders; and
- Develop and design geotechnical solutions, including foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, and soil improvement techniques, based on subsurface investigations and analyses to meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
Project Management & Client Relations
- Manage multiple complex geotechnical projects simultaneously, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and overseeing client communications;
- Develop project proposals, cost estimates, and construction specifications while ensuring that projects stay within scope, budget, and deadlines; and
- Cultivate strong, long-lasting client relationships to ensure repeat business and high client satisfaction.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior engineers, technicians, and field staff, fostering professional growth and encouraging a collaborative and supportive team environment; and
- Work independently and collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and contractors, to achieve optimal project outcomes.
Continuous Learning & Industry Trends
- Stay current with evolving industry trends, new technologies, codes, and regulations in geotechnical engineering, and integrate this knowledge into project planning and execution.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track to obtain licensure;
- 8+ years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, including substantial experience with field investigations, laboratory testing, and advanced geotechnical analyses;
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geotechnical data and develop practical solutions for varied project types;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and presenting technical information to stakeholders;
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, meeting deadlines while ensuring accuracy and quality in all aspects of the work;
- Strong client management experience, with a track record of building and maintaining long-term relationships;
- Familiarity with local codes, regulations, and standards specific to the New England region; and
- Previous experience with staff mentorship and leading teams effectively.
