The API Developer role focuses on integrating backend core systems with front-end applications by designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure APIs and microservices. The position supports end-to-end delivery across the software development life cycle, deploying solutions through an API gateway platform and collaborating within an agile team. The developer will also provide L3 support for production issues and contribute to documentation and knowledge transfer to support peers and teams.Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Integrate backend core systems with front-end applications through API development
  2. Develop scalable, maintainable, and secure code for deployment in an API gateway platform
  3. Develop microservices for customized API functions (e.g., encryption algorithms and database connectivity)
  4. Participate in the end-to-end software development life cycle of projects
  5. Implement API security controls (e.g., rate limiting, JWT, OAuth, API keys)
  6. Write comprehensive API documentation and conduct technical knowledge transfer to support teams and development peers
  7. Debug issues effectively and develop unit tests
  8. Collaborate within a highly functional team and adhere to agile ways of working
  9. Support production issues as L3

Required Qualifications

  1. At least 2 years of experience in API development
  2. Experience using IBM API Connect or an equivalent API gateway platform
  3. Experience developing RESTful and SOAP API web services
  4. Experience with JavaScript/NodeJS
  5. Experience with the NestJS framework
  6. Experience with SQL/NoSQL database queries
  7. Experience implementing API security (e.g., rate limiting, JWT, OAuth, API key)
  8. Experience with Docker
  9. Experience using GitLab repositories
  10. Experience using Linux CLI
  11. Ability to write comprehensive API documentation and perform technical knowledge transfer
  12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  13. Ability to support production issues as L3
  14. Adherence to agile ways of working

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerized workflows
  2. Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift on AWS and other AWS cloud products
  3. Experience and knowledge with ReactJS
  4. Experience and knowledge with VueJS
  5. Experience and knowledge with TypeScript
  6. Experience and knowledge with IBM API Connect
  7. Experience and knowledge with SQL
