About Westerwelle Startup Haus Accra
The Westerwelle Foundation for International Understanding, headquartered in Berlin, Germany, is a non-profit organization established in 2013 by Dr. Guido Westerwelle, former German Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Ralph Dommermuth, CEO and Founder of United Internet AG.
The Foundation's work aims to accelerate digital transformation in emerging economies and create positive spill-over effects that strengthen transparency, integrity, and innovation within both private and public sector institutions. To support entrepreneurship ecosystems and foster innovation, the Westerwelle Foundation operates entrepreneurship hubs known as Westerwelle Startup Haus. These hubs are currently located in Tunis (Tunisia), Kigali (Rwanda), Arusha (Tanzania), Mombasa (Kenya), and Accra (Ghana), providing entrepreneurs with access to workspaces, networks, mentoring, and entrepreneurship support programmes tailored to different sectors and stages of business development.
The Westerwelle Startup Haus Accra (WSHAC), located in Accra and officially opening this year, serves as a collaborative entrepreneurship hub connecting founders, innovators, investors, corporates, universities, and ecosystem partners. Through flexible workspaces, entrepreneurship programmes, networking events, and strategic partnerships, WSHAC supports entrepreneurs in building scalable businesses while strengthening Ghana's innovation ecosystem and fostering collaboration across Africa.
Overview
The Operations & Admin Support keeps the Haus running day to day and supports the finance and administration function: facilities and service providers are followed up until issues are resolved, supplies do not run out, and documentation is complete, correctly organised, and audit-ready at all times. This is a national service position.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities and office operations
- Log maintenance issues covering electricity, internet, air conditioning, printers, and furniture, and follow up with service providers until fully resolved.
- Monitor stock levels of stationery, printing, kitchen, and cleaning supplies and raise requests before items run out.
- Support room setup and reset for meetings, sessions, and events.
- Maintain the office inventory and fixed asset register.
Documentation and filing
- Collect and file supplier invoices, contracts, delivery notes, tax certificates, and receipts.
- Maintain the digital filing structure in SharePoint and supplier records in Airtable, following the agreed naming convention exactly.
- Scan and index physical documents and keep the finance files audit-ready throughout the year.
Procurement support
- Request quotations from suppliers on instruction and compile them for evaluation.
- Maintain the supplier database, including registration, VAT, and tax clearance documentation.
- Track deliveries against purchase orders and confirm goods received.
Finance support
- Assist with entering transactions into the accounting system under supervision.
- Support preparation of the monthly document pack for the accountant.
- Follow up on outstanding member and client invoices.
Administration
- Support travel, accommodation, and logistics bookings for staff, facilitators, and guests.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelors degree or HND in accounting, finance, business administration, logistics, or a related field.
- Eligible national service Candidate for 2026/2027 cycle
- Practical and persistent with service providers, and follows issues through to resolution.
- Strong Excel skills and willing to learn QuickBooks or the accounting system selected by WSHAC.
- Absolute discretion with confidential financial and commercial information.
- Demonstrable integrity and reliability, supported by references.
