Through its diverse initiatives, including the Young Founders Programme and its network of startup hubs across Africa, the foundation creates platforms for startup founders to connect, learn, and grow. 

Overview:

The Programme & Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in managing the flagship Young Founders Programme, organizing events in Berlin, and managing the foundation's social media channels. Additionally, this role contributes to other marketing activities as well as fostering the global Westerwelle Foundation community. The Programme & Marketing Coordinator is central to building strong relationships with entrepreneurs, growing the foundations visibility, and ensuring programme excellence.

This position reports directly to the global Head of Programmes and the Director of Community and Marketing in Berlin. 

Responsibilities:

Programme Management:

  • Oversee the Young Founders Programme, including applicant selection, curriculum coordination, virtual event facilitation, and ongoing programme delivery.
  • Liaise with mentors, experts, and participants to ensure a high-quality programme experience.
  • Monitor programme outcomes, collect feedback, and continuously improve processes and content.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders on programme impact and success.

Events & Conferences in Berlin:

  • Support with the planning and execution of conferences and networking events hosted in Berlin.
  • Manage relationships with venues, suppliers, and contractors to ensure event success.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, invitations, and onsite support.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans to promote events and attract relevant audiences.
  • Represent the Westerwelle Foundation at relevant events, showcasing the foundation's mission and activities.

Marketing & Social Media:

  • Execute a comprehensive social media strategy to strengthen the foundations online presence across platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and Facebook).
  • Manage a content calendar and create all content for social media, ensuring consistent, engaging, and high-quality posts.
  • Respond to comments and inquiries across channels to engage with the online community.
  • Coordinate photoshoots and video projects to highlight programme milestones, events, and participant stories.
  • Support with other marketing activities, e.g. sponsored ads, updating the website, and creating promotional materials for events. 

Community Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the global Westerwelle Foundation community, especially entrepreneurs taking part in the Young Founders Programme.
  • Facilitate connections between community members and stakeholders to foster collaboration and growth.
  • Ensure the CRM is up to date with founder/mentor/investor/partner details. 
  • Respond to requests, share opportunities, and maintain engagement on the community WhatsApp channel.
  • Gather feedback from the community to continuously improve offerings and engagement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in entrepreneurship, international business, international relations, development, or a related field. Additional qualifications in digital marketing/community management/programme management are a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience in programme management, marketing, social media, and community engagement.
  • Strong track record in organizing and managing programmes and events, including planning, logistics, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Experience with creating online marketing content (posters, videos, and other content for social media).
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, creative mindset with a passion for engaging and growing communities.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g. social media and Canva).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with a global audience.
  • Strong project management skills, with familiarity in tools such as Asana and Airtable being an advantage.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate programme performance and marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to network and represent the foundation confidently in diverse settings.
