We are hiring for a Database Manager for a client located in Ortigas, the salary is open based on experience and qualifications
This is an onsite work in Ortigas and follows a regular Mon to Fri Work Schedule
At least 10 years of Database Management experience is required for this position. Solid Hands on experience with MYSQL and MariaDB is NON NEGOTIABLE
As the Database Administrator Manager, you will report directly to the Senior IT Project Manager and assume a pivotal role in designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing, and maintaining the organization's databases. You must ensure the reliability, integrity, and security of the data infrastructure, demonstrating an elevated level of expertise and leadership within the database administration function. You will also lead a team, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to ensure optimal performance and alignment with organizational goals. Additionally, your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement database solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives and enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
JOB COMPETENCIES/SPECIFICATIONS
1. Possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Database Administration, with a strong emphasis on MySQL and MariaDB.
2. Demonstrate 10 years of hands-on experience creating, maintaining, and supporting databases in a high-transactional environment.
3. Exhibit proficiency in SQL Language and advanced skills in SQL tuning.
4. Proven experience in database performance tuning, optimization, backup, and recovery strategies.
5. Expertise in replication configuration in MySQL and MariaDB environments.
6. Apply critical thinking skills, collaborating effectively across teams and providing leadership beyond immediate responsibilities.
7. Proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL statements.
8. Experience in handling very large volume of data.
9. Possess in-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practices in database administration.
10. Provide leadership beyond immediate responsibilities, having management experience to lead and mentor a team, ensuring cohesive teamwork and alignment with organizational goals.
11. Must hold at least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or an equivalent qualification.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot advanced database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access.
- Administer and manage user privileges within the database environment, ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Proactively monitor and optimize system performance through advanced techniques such as index tuning, disk optimization, and other performance-enhancing methodologies.
- Mentor and guide team members by implementing and advocating database best
- practices, contributing to the advancement of their technical skillsets.
- Oversee and manage database reports and ETL processes to ensure efficiency and
- accuracy.
- Lead efforts to automate repetitive database tasks, improving overall operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and recommend system changes to mitigate risks, prevent incident recurrence, and enhance overall database performance.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including major incident reports, service specifications, and change requests.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, establishing data standards, procedures, and definitions within the data dictionary (metadata).
