About the job Law & Motion - Associate
**Hybrid Role
Position Description: Our client seeks law and motion litigation associates with all experience levels. Associates will draft substantive motions, including motions to dismiss and, motions for summary judgment, and drafting oppositions. The ideal candidate will also have a strong background in assisting with related appeals.
Responsibilities:
- Staying abreast of changes in laws and precedents to ensure the accuracy and relevance of legal arguments
- Conducting thorough legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations, and case law to develop persuasive legal arguments
- Drafting, filing, and arguing legal briefs and memoranda in state and federal courts
- Preparing and responding to pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs
- Attending court hearings or other legal proceedings and working with senior attorneys to provide legal advice
- Regularly communicating with partners, associates, paralegals, clients, and opposing counsel
- 1850 billable hours
Skills & Requirements:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school
- Current California bar admission, in good standing
- 2+ years of experience, employment law background strongly preferred
- Excellent writer with attention to detail
- Effective oral communication skills
- Must be a team player with exceptional personal interaction skills and responsiveness
- Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of current state and federal procedures
- Must be comfortable handling court appearances and have some experience participating in depositions and mediations
- Trial experience is preferred but not required
