As a key member of our Cardiac Stepdown Unit, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides compassionate, evidence-based care to patients with complex cardiac conditions. Here, your skills will be challenged, your expertise will grow, and your contributions will directly impact the recovery and outcomes of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from heart surgery, myocardial infarction (heart attacks), congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions.
- Monitoring: Continuously assess and monitor patients’ cardiovascular status, including vital signs, telemetry, oxygenation, and lab results.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with physicians, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalized care plans.
- Education: Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, cardiac rehabilitation, lifestyle modifications, and disease management strategies.
- Emergency Response: Act swiftly and confidently in emergency situations, including cardiac arrests, arrhythmias, and other life-threatening events.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure that patients’ physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met during their recovery process.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN)
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- Experience: Previous cardiac nursing experience preferred, but not required. New grads with a strong desire to work in cardiology are encouraged to apply!
- Skills: Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate Care: Empathetic, patient-centered approach with a focus on building trust and rapport with patients and families
